Privacy Policy

What we collect

SyncTheory signs you in with Google. When you do, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo — nothing else from your Google account. We don’t request access to your contacts, calendar, Drive, or any other Google data.

Beyond that, we store what you enter directly in the app: the books on your shelves, your bio and location if you add them, and the messages and meetup requests you send to other readers you’ve matched with.

How we use it

Your shelves are compared against other users’ shelves to suggest reading partners. Your name and photo are shown to matches so they know who they’re talking to. Messages and meetup details are only visible to the two people in that match — never to other users, and never used for anything beyond delivering them to that conversation.

We don’t sell your data, and we don’t share it with third parties for advertising.

Where it’s stored

Data is stored in a managed Postgres database (Supabase) and protected by row-level security so that only the app itself, and the people you’ve matched with, can read your conversations and meetup details.

Deleting your data

To have your account and all associated data deleted, email hello@synctheory.in from the address on your account. We’ll confirm once it’s done, typically within a few days.
